Hi blausu - please do post your comets in this thread so we can have a look at them. Most of the comets in the videos have probably already been found but don't let that stop you! You might find this thread interesting too.

Thank you Joles for that good news, I am posting this series of observations so you all can tell me if this is what I supposed to be doing, I checked the links but to be hones I have not seen any of the ones I have found list in there, or maybe I Have not understand how to check it, as the only thing I can see in my screen is the number after I saved it in favorites and in those in the lists show the date+number to name the comets so I am lost :).

http://www.solarstormwatch.com/favourites/9530 Comet, start at 16:80 -1760. (0.6cm,2cm) from the left bottom corner in the window near the sun. angle 5:00pm, also I would like to know what planets are those and which one is the one with the explosion.
http://www.solarstormwatch.com/favourites/9531 Comet, starts at 19:40-20:20 (0.5cm,2cm) from right bottom corner in the window angle 8:00pm, is that the same comet as in 9530?
http://www.solarstormwatch.com/favourites/9532 strikes
http://www.solarstormwatch.com/favourites/9533 strikes
http://www.solarstormwatch.com/favourites/9534 big flare from the sun
http://www.solarstormwatch.com/favourites/9535 strikes , plus can I know what planets are in there?
http://www.solarstormwatch.com/favourites/9536 Comet, starts at 10,10-12,40 (1,2cm)from the right bottom corner, angle 4:00pm from the right. with a strike in between this times, I have seen the same since 9518 in a series to 9537 so I would like to know if is the same comet  going around the sun.

Thanks again

Having looked at comets' perihelion dates from SOHO, I would guess that the comets are different; comets typically arrive once every couple days around the Sun, so the 3 objects you see are likely 3 different comets.

not part of solar stormwatch, but a few recent comets from the SOHO telescope:

2014/05/19: 11:24-16:36
2014/05/19-20: 20:36-04:00

Hi: Thanks for replying planetaryscience, I did have a look at the video, amazing and beautiful, but I think the ones I have seen are different from the ones in the video as the direction is different.  I assume I will have to wait for somebody to confirm me that. Or how to report it ?

I'll have a closer look at your videos later today but rest assured that as long as you mark them in What's That the team will have a record of each comet. The point of posting them here is so we can have fun trying to identify them ourselves. They also serve as a very useful training aid showing others what comets look like on the videos. Some are really tricky to spot! (I'm not a great comet spotter :( ). So carry on! You are doing a great job! :)

Yes I think you are right - these are all the same. You will get the occasional repeat video in What's That - here's team member Steve's explanation:

The what's that videos are [supposedly] drawn at random from a pool of videos - but its really quite a small pool.  We have had some technical difficulties with adding more recent data but hope to have some available soon, we also are looking at adding data from the outer (HI-2) cameras that so far have not been included.

thanks for your interest is solarstorm watch.

Steve

Ok. I Imagine this website with this videos are only for training purposes. I have been comparing most of the videos with the ones posted back in 2010, and they are the same ones. :) :-X ???. So where can I find real time information with real time videos or at least recent ones.

We are indeed long overdue some new data for What's That and Spot. Meanwhile the real time feeds are Incoming and Incoming Trace. These are the tasks currently being used for solar stormwatch research (there's one paper almost finished) - though all the clicks on all the projects will not go to waste.

Additionally, our clicks on Trace It are also currently being analysed.
