Solar Science Discussion / STEREO A back online
« Last post by Quialiss on July 17, 2015, 05:38:02 pm »
STEREO A is out of solar conjunction and returning to partial operation!  Full operation will resume in November, right now the angle between the sun and Earth is too small for the spacecraft to safely point the main antenna directly at Earth so data upload is limited.

STEREO B has still not communicated since October 1st, 2014, after experiencing an anomaly during the preparation for solar conjunction.  There is still hope for recovering STEREO B, SOHO was recovered after being lost for almost 5 months, and that was without the sun being in the way!

Hi Muhammad,
Yes, this is a great example of an optical effect. It happens when a bright planet, in this case Venus, comes into the camera's field of view causing optical flares and the vertical saturation spikes you can see here. There is a list of odd things you might come across and how to classify them in this thread.

Hi

What is this effect that I am seeing? Should it be classified as optical effect?

Technical Questions and Support / Re: Unable to progress to What's That

Hi

I seem to be having the same problem as well.

I also can't access my profile info to see how much I have done. When I click the orange tab on the right, the page just becomes grey and nothing happens.

I have tried using various browsers in different computers.

This is part of a school assignment and my classmates seemed to be having the same problems as well.

Pls help.

Rias
