The Current phase of Solar Stormwatch is now complete - it has been a huge success and produced many papers. The project is, therefore, about to be retired but there are some tweaks the admin team need to do before this can happen. This means that the parts of the site that are not working (such as What's that and Track It Back) will not be repaired. The front page of the Solar Stormwatch site will eventually be changed to make this clear and the forum will be made read-only.

Meanwhile, apologies to anyone wanting to become involved in Solar Stormwatch during this transition period - and a big, CME-sized thank you to everyone who has taken part over the last 5 years. We did a great job!

We're so damn good we made the Daily Zooniverse again!

A Movie of Consensus

Incoming and Incoming Trace-It are both currently down due to STEREO's solar conjunction. Additionally, STEREO B failed to respond after a recent planned reset. Meanwhile, Spot, What's That and Track it Back are still working and need your clicks!

Follow updates of the conjunction manoeuvres on the Stereo Science Center website here and here.

Anyone else having problems with Incoming Trace-It? I have been getting black plots for the last few days.

And it look like Incoming is down today too.

Interesting site showing world wide real-time video cameras - including some solar scopes.

Funding is available to send one more volunteer to the second Zooniverse Workshop in Chicago! It could be you! Details on the Zooniverse blog.

The Sun Lounge / 22 June 2013 meeting in Oxford. ZOOCON13!

A group of us meet last year in the Denys Wilkinson Astrophysics department of Oxford University.

We listened to several talks about a number of zooniverse projects and ended up in the pub where the zooniverse was born - The Royal Oak, Oxford. This year it's bigger (and a little more formal). Details are on the Galazy Zoo forum here. Ticketing information is here (it's free!) Come and join in - we're a very friendly bunch and would love to see some new faces.

Details here in Chris' blog post.
The team are coming to film at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), in Oxford, on the 28th of February and 1st March and are looking to recruit a group of around 20 UK-based Stormwatchers to come to RAL and be part of this programme!

RAL is just outside Oxford.

The Sun Lounge / We Need Your Help
« on: August 25, 2012, 11:12:31 pm »
Hi all

As perhaps you know, British universities are, from time to time, asked to report to the government on what they've been up to. These assessment exercises help determine funding, and are taking extremely seriously by everyone involved. We want to make sure that Galaxy Zoo and the Zooniverse are reported properly, and it would help immensely if you could spend 5 minutes filling out this survey. On a personal note, I rely on support from Oxford to work on the Zooniverse and being able to give the department this information would be hugely helpful.

Thanks a million.
